Light and Shadow

The collaboration of violin and vibraphone represents a meeting of two different worlds. With its radiant and crystalline tone, the violin embodies a bright point that vibrates and flutters the inner strings of the listener. In contrast, the vibraphone seems to draw the listener into a darker space, where the sound surrounds them from all sides, yet remains intangible—as if in shadow.

Like a complementary system of yin and yang, these two instruments are ready to create together a world where there is at one moment light, at another shadow—sometimes intimacy, and at other times energetic frenzy.

The concert program is inspired by these very principles: the opening Fratres captures the journey from the shadows of pine forests into the blazing sun and back into the evening silence and inner calm; Dawn over the Marsh by Martin Kux-Král follows the principles of haiku poetry, highlighting the beauty of nature and its powerful contrasts. These contrasts and shifting colors serve as the connective tissue of the entire program, which begins in silence and culminates in the explosive emotional outburst of Astor Piazzolla’s works.
